 FHE's Service and Philanthropic Opportunities

We have formed a service and philanthropic partnership with the Reach Out and Read Program and Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding.

Reach Out and Read promotes reading in the homes of at risk children, ages 6 months to 5 years old.  Volunteers read to children in waiting rooms and serve as a model to the parents. Pediatricians discuss with parents the importance of reading to their child to develop early cognition. Each child is given a book at the end of their well-child visit.

Here's how you can help:

1. BE A VOLUNTEER

Serve as a waiting room reader at Hughes Spalding! Please email Murry at mford12@student.gsu.edu for info on how to get involved

2. SUPPORT THE BOOK DRIVE

Help FHE as we support Hughes Spalding's Reach Out and Read program by collecting $500 in Children's books this semester.

Please donate new, developmentally and culturally appropriate books for ages 6mo – 5 yr. Books about sensitive issues like divorce, abuse or death cannot be accepted.

Books can be given to any officer during class.

Short on time? Donations for books are also accepted. FHE will gladly purchase the books for you.
